Full Dentures

Full dentures, also known as complete dentures, are dental prostheses used to replace all of the teeth in a patient’s upper or lower jaw. They are typically made of acrylic resin and can be designed to fit snugly over the patient’s gums. Full dentures can be an effective solution for patients who have lost all of their teeth due to injury, decay, or other causes, and can help restore their ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

How Are Full Dentures Fitted?

The process of getting full dentures typically involves several appointments with your dentist to ensure the final product is the perfect fit. During the first appointment, your dentist will take impressions of your mouth to create a model of your gums and jaw.

This model is then used to create a wax model of your denture, which your dentist will then have you try on to ensure a proper, comfortable fit. Once the fit is confirmed, the wax model is used to create a final full denture for you.

How Do I Care for Full Dentures?

It is important for patients to properly look after and maintain their full dentures to ensure their longevity and effectiveness. This includes daily cleaning and proper overnight storage as well as regular checkups, periodic adjustments, and repairs as needed.

Once you receive your full dentures, our dentists will take you through how to properly care for them and will happily answer any questions you may have about their maintenance.

Removable Partial Dentures

If you’re looking for an experienced and friendly dentist who can restore your smile with high-quality removable partial dentures, our services can help.

Removable partial dentures (RPDs) are dental prostheses used to replace missing teeth in the mouth. RPDs are a popular option for patients who are missing one or more teeth but do not require a full set of dentures. They are custom-made to fit the patient’s mouth and can be easily adjusted if needed.

They are designed to be removed from the mouth for cleaning and maintenance and are typically made of either acrylic or a chrome framework with acrylic resin or porcelain teeth attached to it.

Acrylic

Acrylic partial dentures are often recommended as a more adaptable, cost-effective option, especially if your remaining natural teeth have a poor prognosis but don’t warrant extracting all at once. With each natural tooth extraction, an artificial one can easily be incorporated into your existing acrylic RPD at a very reasonable cost.

Acrylic dentures are less expensive and easier to adjust and repair but may also be bulkier and less durable than RPDs with a chrome framework.

Chrome Framework

The artificial teeth and gums used in a chrome denture are made out of either porcelain or acrylic, making them aesthetically very similar to those used in acrylic dentures. However, using chrome for the framework makes the dentures much stronger than acrylic, allowing for a slimmer, sleeker, and more comfortable design for the denture base.

While these dentures are more expensive than acrylic RPDs, their enhanced design makes them the preferred choice for many patients. Not only can the base be thinner, but a chrome framework can also cover a smaller area of the mouth. This allows for a higher level of accuracy and also provides a better, more comfortable fit that interferes less with senses such as taste and hot-cold sensitivity.

Immediate Dentures

An immediate denture is a temporary complete or partial denture that is fitted immediately after having teeth extracted. It is often a stop-gap solution, as your gums need time to heal before a permanent denture is fitted.

Immediate dentures can help patients maintain their smile and prevent any issues with speaking or eating during this time of healing. They will give you the ability to eat and speak as normal while your gums heal from the extractions, and they will also help you get used to wearing a denture.

An immediate denture requires planning. Before we extract your teeth, we’ll take a series of impressions to determine the precise colour, size, and shape of your teeth. We’ll make your immediate denture in time for your extraction appointment so you can wear it as soon as you’ve had your natural teeth removed.
